We Don't Inherit the Land from Our Ancestors...

By Carol McDaniel

"We don't inherit the land from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children."

My friendship group set the task to enter this challenge and so I sailed out to find the perfect proverb. I went to the library, I asked friends and I searched. I could not find the right words until one day our family went to the Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles. These Navaho words, inscribed in brass, were embedded in the plaza. Perfect, I thought!
