Janie Mountain Baker

Born in Santa Monica, California, and raised in the San Fernando Valley, I learned to sew at ten and have been a lover of textile arts ever since. I enjoy quilting and sewing wearable art, and am a member of the San Fernando Valley Quilting Association and the Southern California Wearable Art Connection.

In the last ten years I have become active in designing and making church banners. I find this fulfilling on many levels: spiritually, artistically, and creatively. It is thrilling to see folks respond to the Christian message presented in textiles and so much fun to put new techniques and fabric manipulations to such good use. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty that I've been allowed to enjoy myself so much while doing my work!

I live in the San Fernando Valley with my husband Dennis and son Michael in the house in which I grew up. I love gardening, raising dogs, and spending too much time watching old movies.
