If You Keep Making A Face Like That... It's Going To Stay That Way!By Sandra Dockstader

We did it to get attention, show our anger, to pout, and for many other reasons. Our faces are a way of expression. Little kids use their faces to tell us they are mad, sad, naughty and nice. Sometimes, because the words just don’t come as easy to little kids. Also sometimes reacting to high emotions with a little humor helps the situation. Many times I heard "If you keep making a face like that- it's going to stay that way!" I think at first I believed it, but soon it became funny.
As kids we all try to see if we can cross our eyes, hold our breath, make the best pout face, or really show how angry we are without ever saying a word. I made this quilt to express the many emotions a face can reveal. This quilt will help some parents laugh at the faces their children make and the faces they made as children. Maybe they will use humor to break the tension and enjoy the faces their children make. Maybe their smile... will stay that way! Of all the proverbs and wives tales that I thought of, this one brought a smile to my face. I guess that is why I choose it as the one to illustrate in a quilt. SMILE! |
