One riddle, of my youth, that no matter how often I heard it or told it cracked me up was "Why did the chicken cross the road?" The most common answer being "to get to the other side". More creative answers would include something enticing on the other side of the road. My "eureka!" moment, when pondering this quilt, was to update the answer for the adult quilter. What would appeal to a quilter to change her course? A fabric sale would. What better store for a chicken quilter than Hencocks Fabrics?!
