Vicki Tymczyszyn

I have always had a love for math and especially Geometry. Sorry, I know this makes some people Īuneasyā, but hey, someone has to like math, right? I originally planned to be a Geometry instructor, but in High School I realized my love of art and math could translate very well into Architecture. I pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree first from U.S.C. and then Cal. Poly. San Luis Obispo. (I say pursued because I never completed my degree. I did, however, become licensed in 1985.)

I practiced Architecture as a Construction Coordinator for about 10 years. I stopped working full time when I became pregnant with my first child. My love for sewing led me into quilt making when my daughter was born. Something about the precision and discipline of quilts finally captured both my left and right brains. Another outlet for my love of art and geometry!

I have been making quilts for about 17 years. I prefer machine piecing because I can do more quilts at a time. However, I also love handwork, and with two very busy kids, itās great to have a Īportableā project on occasions.

I have entered NQS with an updated version of an antique quilt called ĪDouble Xās', I have collaborated on several Opportunity quilts for my Guild, one being published in the 2001 AQS Engagement calendar, and this is my second ĪProverbialā entry. I hope to continue making quilts for many years to come.
