What is Red, Round, and Eats Rocks?

By Marty Grey

. . . A ROUND RED ROCK-EATER!

The answer to this riddle made me roll on the ground as a child. I still get a big kick out of super silly riddles, although as an adult I don't roll on the ground as easily and basically just smile hard. Sometimes I wish for the reactions of childhood - sincere love of the truly ridiculous. This riddle, as it turns out, was created by Bennett Cerf and illustrated in one of his riddle books by Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss). After finishing my quilt I had to find out who authored the riddle. I was pleased to find out that my quilt is nothing like the Geisel illustration.
