What Animal Can Tell Time the Best?

I thought back to my own elementary school years and more recently when I taught elementary school. There were so many riddles to choose from! Eventually it came down to a joke with a chicken or a joke with a dog. The dog won; I love dogs! The riddle I chose (What animal can tell time the best?) is a riddle that never goes away. I remember it from my riddle books I read as a kid and from my second graders that I taught a few years ago.

What I love about this riddle is that there are many ways to portray the watchdog. I could have had a dog wearing a wristwatch or a watch on the dog's collar. Ultimately I thought a dog in a watch would be the most fun.
