In Vino Veritas

I believe that two interpretations of this proverb are possible. The first, probably more common and recognized, is that people under the influence of wine will say things they ordinarily try to conceal - the mask falls from the drinker's character and the observer sees the truth.

The second meaning, a more literal interpretation, is that the proverb reflects the belief of many of us that wine enhances the art of living well. Mankind has always searched for truth and has possibly gotten a little closer to it when philosophizing over a good glass of wine!
